Homelessness is extremely dangerous, especially when enduring frigid temperatures. Unfortunately, the number of homeless individuals in Kansas City highly exceeds the number of beds available at local shelters and many are left on the streets, fighting to stay warm.
Keeping KC Warm is a community outreach focused on providing coats and warm items directly to our homeless community during the colder months. Since 2010, Keeping KC Warm distributed over 20,000 warm items in both Kansas and Missouri.
On January 12, KindCraft partnered with Keeping KC Warm to make 265 Bare Necessities Bags. Each bag contained a stocking cap, bottle of water, granola bar, poncho, chapstick, 2 pairs of hot hands, & 2 thermal wraps. Keeping KC Warm will distribute these bags to the homeless population in both Kansas & Missouri. Uplift was also at the event sharing their mission with KindCraft families. They actively seek out the homeless population in Kansas City with a goal of delivering basic human needs, care and compassion. The kids got to hear about & walk through the truck they use to serve the homeless.
